The Newton Police Department will host

Coffee with a Cop – on Campus

Tuesday February 9, 2016 10:30am-12noon

Sussex County Community College

Student Center by the Cafeteria

Program offers opportunity to meet local officers, discuss issues

On Tuesday February 9, 2016, officers from the Newton Police Department, students, staff and faculty members will come together to informally discuss issues, build relationships, and drink some coffee.  All college community members are invited to attend.  The event will take place from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon at the Sussex County Community College by their student center.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work on campus.  The event also coincides with the Department’s Park, Walk & Talk program on campus in which Officers park their vehicle and briefly walk around, visiting with students, faculty and staff each day.

Together, these programs foster positive interaction between local law enforcement and the college community, allowing students and staff to see Officers in a different perspective.  We encourage students and faculty to stop by and chat as their time permits.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.  Similar events are being held across the country, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
